Cambodia, the Italy of Asia
Cambodia should preserve and promote all of its temples and not only its most famous ruins to become the ‘Italy of Asia’, said Kay Kimsong.
Cambodia may be a politically small country but its rich in resources. If Cambodia were to plan and target carefully, it can turn into the Italy of Europe.
There are many unknown ancient temples only the villagers know about that have yet to be discovered. Most of us know only of the famous Angkor Thom.
Cambodia may be leaving alot of tourists dollars on the table if they do not make all of Cambodia’s temples into tourists destinations. There are at least 2,000 more temples uncatalogued.
Villagers have to be educated and involved with the telling of the history and stories of these temples and to be able to read the inscriptions written by their ancestors and share them with tourists.
Tourism can be developed even more if these villagers can also provide meals and accommodation near these temples.
These could be good sources of income for villagers and tourism.
